En septembre 1842, une demande est déposée pour la construction des abattoirs. Ce bâtiment est construit en 1845 par l’architecte Le Bouvier sur un terrain situé le long du chemin de halage. Il est réaménagé par un architecte rochelais, Auguste Cotton, dans un style industriel associant briques et pierres de Crazannes. L’édifice s’inscrit avec la porcherie et la laiterie voisines dans un ensemble mis à l’écart de la ville, considéré comme polluant. Les abattoirs fonctionneront jusqu’en juin 1974.
The old slaughterhouse:
In September 1842 an application was made for the construction of a slaughterhouse.The building was erected by architect Le Bouvier on a piece of land located along the towpath in 1845. Auguste Cotton, an architect from La Rochelle, refurbished it in an industrial style combining bricks and stones from Crazannes. The building, together with the nearby pigsty and dairy, is part of an estate set aside from the town and regarded as a source of pollution. The slaughterhouse was used until June 1974.
Der ehemalige Schlachthof :
Im September 1842 wird ein Antrag auf den Bau eines Schlachthofs gestellt. Er wird 1845 vom Architekten Le Bouvier auf einem Gelände entlang des Treidelpfads errichtet. August Cotton, ein Architekt aus La Rochelle, baut ihn später im industriellen Stil um, mit Backsteinen und Steinen aus dem Steinbruch von Crazannes. Schlachthof, Molkerei und Schweinezucht liegen abseits der Stadt weil sie als umweltverschmutzend galten. Der Schlachthof wird im Juni 1974 geschlossen.
